Afrolumens Project is a private web site dedicated to involving us all in a common history, free of ties to advertisers, companies or interest groups. As editor, I invite and encourage you to participate in this project by sharing your stories, histories, research and views about antebellum African American life in Central Pennsylvania.

speak out

Write to us-- we will publish letters to the editor, letters to the community, etc.  Note:  we will not publish letters containing personal attacks on individuals.  We reserve the right to edit letters for length and content, or not to publish at our discretion.

teach us

We invite and encourage you to share your stories, histories, photographs and research about antebellum African American life in central Pennsylvania.  We are committed to teaching this history, and we plan to expand this Web site accordingly as our research continues.

Your contributions are vital to this project.  You can tell us about your experiences with local African American history, from colonial times through the Civil War.  Tell us about your research specialties, family Civil War history, and perhaps even family ties to slavery, if you want to share.  Photographs and documents add interest, but are not necessary.

your work

Tell us about your work. You can broaden your network of contacts by letting everyone else know what you are interested in, what you have done, what you are trying to do.  We can all benefit by sharing our knowledge, reducing precious time spent on research that has already been done elsewhere, and producing higher research goals.

e-mail:  george.nagle@gmail.com   also see the Afrolumens Directory

This Web site represents our community's shared history.  Won't you join us?
