don't be fooled
Unscrupulous persons are using the
Afrolumens name to send junk mail, spam and viruses through email.
These bogus emails pretend to come from us, but in reality are illegal
attacks on your system. Don't be fooled by them. Hackers and
spammers use a technique called return address spoofing to gain
your trust and make you believe their email has come from someone that
you know. It is like putting a false return address on an envelope
and signing a false name to a letter--easily done but highly unethical
and illegal.

no attachments
The Afrolumens Project does not send out
unsolicited attachments to email. If we send a file attachment to you,
it is because you are expecting to receive it. Don't open unexpected
attachments that purport to come from us. If you are suspicious of email
that comes from us, don't hesitate to contact us to confirm its legitimacy.

no accounts, no members
The Afrolumens Project does not maintain any
sort of accounts for any reason, nor does it have members. Anyone,
anywhere can access all of our data on our site without limitations, logins,
account numbers or permissions. If you receive email asking to verify
account information, or warning of account restrictions, suspensions,
reinstatements, or membership problems, ignore it. It did not come from
us, and do not open any attachment that may come with it.
These are some of the bogus return addresses
being used. These do not exist:
admin@afrolumens
info@afrolumens
mail@afrolumens
membership@afrolumens
staff@afrolumens
support@afrolumens
However, our legitimate addresses (editor, gnagle)
have also been spoofed, so you must be wary of all unexpected or unsolicited
mail that comes
from us. Usually, the subject line will pertain directly to a topic in
which we have a mutual interest. |
